THE PRACTISE OF HATHA YOGA & PILATES CLASSES
At Tabitha Yoga in Derbyshire, I offer both Yoga & Pilates classes. Lets look at each class a little deeper. Those of you who are beginners may not know the origins of Hatha Yoga. The word Hatha is translated as ha meaning “sun” and tha meaning “moon.” In classes, it relates to the balance of masculine and feminine aspects within all of us. The masculine aspects are hot, active, sun. The feminine aspects are receptive, cool, moon.. It is a way in which we can unite opposites and create balance. My yoga classes are designed for beginners through to fully experienced yogis. Practising daily in Derbyshire and online. In all my Yoga & Pilates classes we develop a balance of strength and flexibility in our physical bodies.
Simply put it is a range of movements called asanas or postures. At Tabitha Yoga in Derbyshire, classes consist of sequences of asanas, designed to align your muscles and bones. The postures are also designed to open the many channels of the body, particularly the spine. This way energy can flow freely. The practice of Hatha yoga is a powerful tool for self-transformation. It asks us to bring our attention to our breath, which helps us to calm the mind and be more present in each moment.

Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced yogi, my Yoga classes in Derbyshire and online are designed to suit all levels of ability. With gentle guidance and instruction I teach, demonstrate and practise constantly changing, sequences of asanas and postures. Not only to grow your confidence and ability but to improve your levels of fitness, strength and flexibility. As your teacher at Tabitha Yoga in Derbyshire, I don't see myself as the drill sergeant here to get you to repeat exercises. I am more of a motivational partner who supports you in your goals and practice of Yoga & Pilates whether you are a beginner or experienced yogi. My aim is to improve your mental fitness as well as your physical fitness.
WHAT IS PILATES?
Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates, a physical-culturist from Germany. His father was a prize-winning gymnast from Greece and his mother a naturopath. He studied both Eastern and Western forms of exercise including yoga. During the first half of the twentieth century he developed a system of exercises which were intended to strengthen the human mind and body. He believed that mental and physical health were interrelated. The system of exercises aim to strengthen the body in an even way, with particular emphasis on core strength to improve general fitness and wellbeing. Exercises are done on a mat and include various types of apparatus that can provide either resistance or support, depending on desired results. Pilates is suitable for people of all ages and levels of ability and fitness, from beginners to elite athletes. As an experienced trainer at Tabitha Yoga I hold regular daytime classes in Derbyshire and I offer classes FREE online on Tabitha Yoga YouTube to suit you wherever you are.
